Our first adventure around Taiwan was to this beautiful little village. It’s called Rainbow Village and from the pictures, you can assume how it got its name. Mr. Huang, or Grandpa Rainbow, painted this all himself! He’s one cool creative grandpa.
These villages around Taiwan were used for soldiers to live in after the retreat from mainland China. Usually these villages were built with cheap materials, so Grandpa Rainbow decided to add some color and now it has become a well-known attraction of Taichung.
There’s plenty of buses that will take you directly across the street from the village, so it’s very convenient to visit. A lot of the bricks on the houses have been falling apart and now has some sections closed off to visitors. Expect to only be here for at least 30 minutes wandering the cute little village in awe of all the art.
